Village experience

I've just had a delightful little stroll to the 'village' shopping area of Ham, situated pleasantly beside the local village green called Ham Common. I'm not really sure if Ham is a village or a suburb of Richmond (where the rich and famous live apparently). Regardless, there is a local fruiterer on this little stretch of road. Carrying your grocery shopping on a packed bus and then walking home, heavy bags in hand is a challenge, hence the extra trip for some veggies. What greeted me was a pleasant experience of a village fruiterer who looked as though he'd been here for as many years as his friendly aged face revealed. Everyone seemed to know him and discussed the general goings on of their lives with him as they selectivly chose their potatoes and clementines. It felt like a friendly farm stall complete with potatoes still covered in soil. What a pleasant experience amidst the world of not-quite-so-friendly, distinctly private londoners. Mmmm I think that will be worth another visit in the future.
