Amahoro Means Peace "When you look at the images, insert yourself in that moment and believe in the beauty that is portrayed."

Amahoro Means Peace

It's easy to be complacent with life; you can watch some pretty significant moments pass you by. Is it just to keep those moments to yourself? I feel as though it is really important to preserve the most simple and significant moments in life by creating an image. When you capture a photo, you give someone else the opportunity to look back and experience the feeling of life and the emotion that you felt when you took the shot. How incredible that we have the chance to save something and share it with the world.
I am a undergraduate student at West Texas A&M University where I study Social Work. I've seen and witnessed some pretty unique and horrific circumstance in places such as Rwanda and Cambodia. Each time I was reminded of the importance of being an ethical photographer. I have high hopes for myself and I long to tell the stories of the people who don't have a voice. A picture has the power to tell a story that perhaps you can't find the words to explain.
Howard Thurman Whitman once said, "Don't ask what the world needs, ask what makes you come alive, and then go and do that..." Ultimately, capturing the moments and telling the stories makes me Come Alive.
