Today, Gareth took me deeper into his home town. First, we went to the Cadbury Chocolate Factory for a tour. I thought Cadbury chocolate was made somewhere in Europe but I learned that the factory started here in Dunedin, NZ. Not only did we get tons of free chocolate samples, but I also got to eat chocolates that are only made here in NZ and nowhere else. Jaffas are small chocolate balls with a hard orange coating and I have to say that they are delicious. I WILL be bringing home a bag of these before I leave next year. The tour lasted 45 mins. After the tour, we went to the Museum to see a butterfly exhibit. We got to walk through an open, netted sanctuary where all these exotic butterflies flew around my face and landed on my head. I dont know why, but everytime one of these bugs came towards me, I squealed like a little girl. Yes, I know they are harmless but its called natural reaction! Needless to say, the butterflies were beautiful. We spent quite a few hours walking around the museum looking at other artifacts and I was able to learn a little bit about NZ history and the local Maori tribe culture. After a day in the town, I went to watch Gareth play a game of field hockey. In the U.S, I believe that this sport is strictly for females, but here in NZ it is co-ed. OK...let me explain this experience to you. It was equivalent to watching The Mighty Ducks. It was like the Island of Misfit toys...so there was the token fat kid (a.k.a goldberg), there was a boy who looked like he went out "drag" on the weekends, and then the girls who looked like boys. Not to be bias, but Gareth was the only one who looked like he knew what he was doing. lol I guess this league is mainly social..but still. ....enough said! Tomorrow, he is going to show me the bus system so I can get around town while he is working. This outta be interesting...
