Sapa, Part 4

AUSTRALIA | Wednesday, 17 November 2010 | Views [235]

Realised I may have mentioned my crossbow for the first time in my last story. Cost me USD4 in a shop in Sapa on Monday night. Had some fun with it with our local guide Thom. His dad is also a Vietnam war veteran, but he was fighting for North Vietnam. I asked him how the Vietnamese in the north view Americans and Australians. He said that there is no animosity and that he regularly takes US veterans home to meet his dad and they share there war stories. Sounds like a good attitude.

Have just refuelled with a US0.50 chocolate tart. Mmmmm...chocolate tart. Leaving in a few minutes to get the bus to Lao Cao for the train ride to Hanoi. Our guide has asked us which carriage we want to be in for the train trip based on our intentions. He has divided us into the sleeping train and the vodka train. Should be a fun night...
