Three countries to conquer today. Breakfast in Denmark, lunch in Sweden and dinner in Norway. And an early start, first train at 8am. But we are grateful to that its just a little tiredness and the sickness is almost all gone. We took the bus to the station and Bevan was gracious enough to let Steph use the last of the Danish currency for a coffee.
Part one was Copenhagen to Gothenburg, 4 hours. Relatively uneventful. We made ourselves comfortable in the 4 seat berth. Not too many people on the train initially but it did start to fill up after a few stops. A local Swedish woman sat with us and chatted for a bit. At about half way in, some a group of older women got on the train and thought we were sitting in there spots. There were no reservations on the seats but oh well, we weren't going to argue. We packed up, went a carriage forward and it was almost empty. We settled in again and before long Bevan was napping.
We arrived in Gothenburg and had a 45 minute stopover until our next train. Enough time to get some lunch and some snacks.
Part 2 was Gothenburg to Oslo, 4 hours. Very easily the best train we have been on thus far. No seat reservations possible on this train, so we could sit wherever we chose and no one to ask us to move. There were not that many people on the train anyways. We selected seats on the left hand side of train, in hopes of catching the ocean views as we headed north us up the coast. The seats seemed a little wider and the leg room ever so slightly more. There was also an air conditioning vent, about 5cm wide that ran along under the window, which was very comfortable to stretch my legs out on. Of course I couldn't do this after someone took the seats in front about 2.5 hours into the journey. The windows were large and the wifi was good. And lastly, the scenery! What a beautiful part of the world. We did get very close to the coast at some points but we also crossed many fjords, lakes and lush green country side. No surprises, Bevan had a solid nap session on this leg as well. We arrived in Oslo a little weary and ready to see what this city could offer.
