Leg 1: London-Paris, 462km

UNITED KINGDOM | Wednesday, 16 August 2017 | Views [352]

A nice short comfortable trip to get us underway on this epic adventure. 462km, 2hr20min, under the ditch and across the French countryside.

We depart from St Pancras station, a short uber ride away from the accommodation. Thankfully we are both feeling much improved today and the worst of the germs should now be behind us. Although the early start (5.30am) is still a shock to the system. Coffee was definitely required on arrival to the station.
Our bags were screened, we were stamped out of the United Kingdom & stamped into France, quite a smooth process.
The Eurostar trains are extremely comfortable, lots of leg room, high back reclining seats and free wifi (although sometimes sporadic connection), what more do you need on such a short trip. These trains are fast, but so smooth & quiet that you don't even realise how fast you are moving. Bevan spent a good part of the journey sleeping. Steph, tapping away on the iPad.

And before we know it, we arrive in one of the most splendid of European cities, Paris.
