A slow start this morning after another post-midnight bedtime. Jeanine is technically still on holiday but is leading a course on Monday so had to go in and do prep this morning. A couple of loads of washing through in her absence then ready to go on her return. ANOTHER sunny day! This is the longest stretch of warm & fine days that Holland has had all year – we are so fortunate.
We headed to the beach today – Bray was on a mission to create a full sized sand car. On Roni’s birthday at Rabbit Island this year another family made one and Bray has been wanting to give it a go ever since. He tried a little with Dino the other day but it’s not really a four year old thing.
Jeanine and Roni got into the cold water to be refreshed then lay in the sun reading while Bray worked on his mammoth project. Issues with collapsing seats and such were pushed on through – with a quick break to consume the packed lunch and thermos of coffee we had prepared earlier. The girls relaxed, read and chatted and Bray preserved.
The car was a success!!! YAYAYAYAYAY! Completed just before the tide reached it...with enough time for video footage and pics with all of us in it before it became a swimming pool!
Bray went in the water then before kicking a ball around for a bit and getting our passing practise in. We headed home with enough time to get the washing in, shower and dress before Jeanine’s man Ruben arrived.
We had been hanging out to meet him all week but he has been flat tack at work. FINALLY we met him – he’s a really good sort! Out for dinner to a place nearby...good chat...HUGE pot of mussels for Roni and Ruben (they do all you can eat mussels...just keep on filling it...we only managed one pot), steak for Bray and eel for Jeanine after some tasty bread with garlic herb butter to start.
Loads of laughter, good chat, yummy kai and a fun evening all round. Eventually we finished the food, had a coffee and headed back to Jeanine’s. More chat over a pot of tea then bed time (another late one).
