My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

My name is Carlos Pinto. I was born in Colombia in 1984 and moved to Canada at the age of 17. My experience as an immigrant has directly influenced the way I see the world around me. Living in a multicultural country allows me to look at my self from a different perspective. I've become aware of my heritage and in a way I began a constant search for my own identity. I believe that the more I learn about, not only my culture but other cultures as well, I gain a better understanding of who I am and my place in this planet.
I think photography is very powerful in as much as it allows us to create history. It is in this sense that I want to pursue a career in photography. I want to leave behind a legacy that can be looked at by future generations to learn about themselves and the places they come from.
In the future I see myself travelling the world with my camera. I'm fascinated by the great cultural and ethnic diversity of our world.
This scholarship is an incredible opportunity to steer my career in the right direction. It will be an invaluable experience to share an assignment with Jason Edwards.
