Bec & Simon

Sunshine Coast, Australia

AUSTRALIA | Tuesday, 13 January 2009 | Views [720]

On the 28th of December we headed up to Queensland for two weeks with Simon's family for a little pre-holiday holiday! Erin, Craig and John were working as volunteer turtle researchers at Mon Repos turtle rookery near Bundaberg. We stayed at Bargara for a week and a half, swimming, eating, drinking and relaxing. Simon, Bec and Ali went out to Mon Repos one night and waited the six hours required to see a ginat sea turtle come up to the beach to nest. The wait was worth it though, they are amazing, and so huge! Erin also took us into the actual research centre where we got to hold a hatchling, then take it down to the beach to release - it's handy to know someone on the inside! After Bargara we headed to Coolum Beach near Noosa for the rest of the time and continued to swim, eat, drink and relax.
