Barbers of India he photos in this Journal are from a recent trip to India where I focused on Barbers. I photographed 68 barbers from Kashmir in the north to as far as Mumbai. The choice to do barbers was simply a fascination with humans love of hair and my own hair loss.

My Scholarship entry - A portrait of the Indian Barber

On the road to Agra we stopped to interrupt this barber enjoying the afternoon breeze behind his curtain, he calmly and happily obliged to having his portrait taken. Barbers in India exude a sense of calm, a must when wielding a razor sharp cut throat blade.
