This is David Atenboroughs favourate place, and it is truely incredible. I would happily have paid to do this several times over. We booked a private 2 hour boat tour down the river in the hope of seeing some wildlife including probiscous monkey's which are only found in Boreno.
I was really hoping to see a pigmy elephant the smallest elephants, however this was wishful thinking as there are only around 800 of them left in the wild. Instad we were delighted with, snakes, birds, water monitors and 5 different kinds of monkeys,
Within minutes of being on the boat the captain pulled us over into the mangioves to find two sleeping snakes on the branches. I have no idea how he spotted them from the middle of the river, because I could hardly spot them when we were inches from them. The snakes were called the mangrove snake and a blood python. You know when your in the jungle when you see a python!! this was a baby one though as it was still quite small, which I was personally pleased about.
Further down the river we were thrilled to see the probicious monkeys! they have a really large nose, I thought that they looked like grumpy old men! We also saw red-leaf and grey leaf monkeys, piged tailed marquies and long tailed marquies and finally common monkeys.
I personally couldn't get over that these monkeys were in the wild and not in a zoo! It was such a pleasure to see them in there natural environment.
