Its time to meet the Orangutans in the wild!!
We stayed at the forest edge resort which is jungle living in style. They are log houses with comfy beds and ensuites, there is even a pool set in amongst the beautiful scenery.
The sepiolk orangutans are literally a 5 min walk down the road. They have feeding times at 10am and 3pm which are for the orphans to help guide them into the forest. It has ropes leading to a platform to feed them bananas, the idea is that feeding them same thing will encourage them to find their own food.
The Orangutans were gorgeous! after most of the crowds had gone home one of the young ones came down to the view platform. Apparently, hes a known show off and loves to pose for pictures.
Over the road from the Orangutan rescue centre is the Sunbear Conservation centre. This is the only centre that rescues Sun bears. They are the worlds smallest bears and they are critically endangered as locals hunt them and use them in chinese medicine. The director of the centre showed us around and told us horrible stories of the bears rescues. A lot of the bears had been sold into the pet industry. The director and his staff spend hours encouraging them and teaching them how to climb as prior to this they had only ever been in cages,
