Inside, tourists wander around the gigantic open space, unsure how to behave on the ground that stood witness to history’s biggest genocide.

The famous gate threatens to swallow whatever approaches on the train tracks leading up to it. These were specifically built to bring deportees directly into the gated site.

On entering the barracks where the prisoners were put, you realize how huddled and inhumane the living conditions really were. This bunk of just over two square meters was once the home of entire families, if they were lucky enough to stay together.
