Where in the World is....Audra

Velletri

I have arrived at my first helpx spot and i love it!  how blessed i am to have this experience as my first.  i am staying with a couple, Paola and Paul as well as their 3 children.  i left the hostel and manuvuered my way on the trains and buses (quite easily may i add) to the little town of Velletri, where Paola and the children picked me up.  We arrived to their home and quickly began making lunch (fish-balls and cous-cous...yes i ate it and yes it was good!)  i was immediately treated like family and had the youngest children messing with me ;)

i am sleeping upstairs in their house (not the barn, as they are fixing the roof this week).  my bedroom window (which is a farm-house double window opens up to look at the hillside...the sun rises beautifully right in front of me!  in the afternoon, i helped with the garden and later with the donkeys!  we had a homemade onion soup (i'm going to be quite the chef when i return) as well as homemade baked apples.

This morning i woke very early and merely gazed out my window until the sun rose.  i had breakfast with Paola and Paul...they are lovely!  we worked around the house again...gardening, cleaning and then drawing/doing photography with the girls (the youngest girl is teaching me italian).  we had a HUGE lunch of which almost all the food we consumed came from their garden!

in a minute we are going off to have tea with their friends.

till next time...

I'm reading this so deeply absorbed and trying to picture myself there and if feels as if I were reading a novel. You just might have to publish all these journal postings as a memoir! Thank you so much for writing about your experiences and including me in them. Enjoy every minute. Love ya.

I want to see pics of the family and that barn. just so you know here you are missing, working indoors from 8-5, hardly having time for yourself and friends, and greasy fried food..... Looks like so far you are getting more than you are missing. i love you.
