This week we are studdying the Bible. We were asked if we think the Bible is a Necessity. This is what my brain came up with.
We are told to use the Bible. As a tool for every fight. It has been given to us to help with every problem we may face. Words for encouragement, comfort, and strength. Suggestions of what to do when you're tired, angry, hurt, need forgiveness, need to give forgiveness, and depressed. Help for when you're marriage is struggling, a friend is in trouble, you don't know how to pray, or you are struggling with your church. Quoting scriptures during evangelism, discipling and spiritual warfare is suggested in the Bible. It's an important tool that was given to us so we wouldn't have to rely on our own words.
There are examples and stories for anything a person could go through. If it's available to you, why not use it? I remember the first time I quoted scripture to someone while explaining who God is. It was one of the best feelings. For one, I felt really smart! Two, it showed I was learning while struggling through the reading. Three, it meant God was speaking to them not me.
Although I think it's important for me to know and use, as well as have personal understanding of what the Bible says. I don't think it is mandatory before leading others to Christ or being a Christian. There are people around the world that are doing more for God than I am and they don't have a Bible, are illiterate, don't have it in their translation or whatever the reason may be. I believe that God gives people knowledge when it is unatainable. He's not going to hold something from someone who is trying to share what they found in God if they don't know the Scriptures. God isn't like that.
So to wrap it all up.
For me, yes I say it's mandatory to know scriptures like I'm told to in the Scripture. But not mandatory for everyone elsewhere
