pittsburgh is pretty

Have you ever been to Pittsburgh?

I wasn't thrilled to hear that I would be travelling to "that other city in Pennsylvania" for a week long training session.  Sure, the 45 minute direct flight was nice (my regular commute is around 12 hours - connecting service), but come on!  Pittsburgh?!

So...um, Pittsburgh is pretty nice!  Apologies to all those who live here or love here - yes I should have given you more of a chance from the beginning.  I also apologize for spending the past three nights in my hotel room grubbing (extremely dissapointing) Hilton room service rather than supporting your local eateries and entertainment outlets.

Now to the point.  Why did I judge PIT so harshly? How did I form my chilly dreary funless-for-me yet vague impression?  I can't even think of a single television show or movie memorably set in this city.  (My apologies to the all the memorable tv shows and movies set in Pittsburgh)

So this leads me to wonder, how many other destinations am I avoiding due to vague and potentially(?) uniformed impressions?  WHERE DO YOU COME FROM?!  Is there any instinct in here?

This trip has been eye-opening on many levels.  Downtown Pittsburgh is very pretty.  Should I be headed to Detroit?

Send her to Detroit !!! ( Kentucky Fried Movie reference )

I was in Southfield and Auburn Hills for a while, but did not spend much time in Detroit. Only one night of gambling and baseball, but not gambling on baseball.

Southfield isn't exciting and Auburn Hills wasn't either. Definitely go to downtown Royal Oak for shopping/eating as it is a nice, trendy area.
