SOLITUDE AT SEA: Another show of natural wonder as the sun sets on a man still trying his luck at catching a fish while he waits to be rescued after his “tinny” went astray from the main boat during a fishing trip off Palm Island in North Queensland. Recreational fishing is a popular activity as well as a source of income for coastal communities in Queensland, according to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.

DRIVING HIGHLIGHT: A tree is immersed in the glorious twilight as seen from the Bruce Highway, Queensland’s major highway, a perfect stop while on a 275-km drive from Airlie Beach in the Whitsunday Region to Townsville in North Queensland. Amid the many tourist attractions in the Queensland state, this view is priceless.

UP IN THE AIR: Boats dot Vlassof Cay in the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Cairns in the far north of Queensland during a scenic flight over the world's largest reef system. Snorkeling in the waters of the reef and taking in the view from the air gives a holistic appreciation of this world heritage site yet creates concern amid reports that tourism is also putting pressure on the reef aside from climate change and other human activities.
