Lesson learned: If you're a goddess, you get really big candles for your birthday.

There is always something burning in the places I've visited, so I wasn't surprised when I smelled smoke. But then I saw these things burning in the street in front of a temple. I asked a couple what these were for and they told me it was a goddess's birthday. There were hundreds of candles lit inside the small temple as well.

Cheong Fatt Tze museum and boutique hotel. This used to be one of many homes of Cheong Fatt Tze, a very wealthy Chinese man. It has been full renovated, but this is the original color. The inside is beautiful and set up in a manner consistent with Chinese feng shui.
