Hi hi!
Finally checked into the hostel ... and im having a great time
Ive posted some pictures of the room ... its like a camp cabin style thing, four beds and a shared bathroom ... and everything seems clean!
There is a communal kitchen/dining room downstairs, where you can heat up food and boil water ... not even our hotel room had a kettle! this is great because it means can get packet soups and a baguette from the bakery n have a meal for less than 1 euro!! Half a baguette here is only 30 cents (half a whole bread stick!) and it is really good quality!!!
I left my stuff n my room this avo and locked everything up ... and then went wandering around the city for two hours before dark ... wanted to see if I could find some stores to buy last mnute presents (didn’t fnd these stores) but took some pictures of paris ...
Remember how I said that paris has a homeless problem (lke any big city ...) well lot of the SDFs (French word for homeless ppl) live around bridge s... and I took a pic so u guys can see the less pretty sde of paris ... also took some pics of the Seine (river) and the Gare de Lyon whch im heading off from tomrorrow ...
Came bak to my room at around 5ish and there was a girl in here ...t heres 3 other aussie girls in my room ... her names mandie n shes really lovely! Shes been traveling around for a few months ... its around 7ish now and I just went downstairs and made some soup with my baguette yumyum ...
I feel so wrcked from last nte think im going to go to bed early tonight .. because I have to wake up at 6
Im really lking ths whole hostel thing very very fun!!
Some final thoughts on paris ...
I like paris a lot more now than I did mid trip ...
I like paris because it is a big city ... and its busy and exciting ...
I like it because it is pretty ...
I like it for its cheap cheese and wine and chocolate ...
I don’t think that Parisians are actually rude rude in an intentional way ... the last week when its just me and nici they have been quite polite ... I think this is because we obey their social rules and we are always very polite to them – we engage in their whole ‘bonjour,’ ‘bonjour madme’ dialogue and when you act like this and make an attempt to speak French and be formal, the Parisians have been really lovely back ...
But I think that when they are faced with a tourist, who doesn’t speak French and is must more brash ... they became cold and tourists mistake this a lot of intentional snobbery ...
I could come back to paris ... for a week ... not for any longer ... it is a nice city ... that I like ... but for me, there is nothing amazing ...
