The whole city of Varanasi is a gigantic bazaar – everyone is peddling something. This little girl was making “donas” – bunches of marigold and roses with an earthen lamp, all arranged in a leafy bowl.

Kids of Varanasi, the world’s oldest city and one of India’s holiest destinations, have to learn to fend for themselves early in their lives. This child, and hundreds like him, start haggling with tourists, offering them “best price” from early morning and into late evening.
