mom and I at Dulles...see you in four months!

Hello all, I have arrived in Bagalore safely. I'm happy to report that despite the long flights--on the flight from Dulles I spilled red wine on myself, and on the second leg from London my pen exploded all over me! Then I waited in many security "ques" but finally hazily arrived at 3:30am local time. I didn't sleep much mostly watched Bollywood in-flight films to aclimate myself culturally. I was greeted at the airport by two of the University's employees who shuttled me off to campus in the wee hours. While riding "home" to the ICMIS campus I saw mostly stray dogs and rickshaws. They drive on the right side of the car and the left side of the street, that wasn't something I was completely aware of until the car started moving and the man I had assumed was driving popped his head out of the front seat and slammed the back door...that's when I did a double take and then figured it all out. The roads here are all rubble right now cause they are working on redoing the main roads, so it was a bit bumpy and exciting. Also the drivers don't use turn signals or obey stop signs (the few I did see) but just honk...sometimes to say hello and other times to say "move it I'm coming!" I have a cute little room all to myself ...with a fan, no ac but the temp is perfect so far, the campus has a cricket field...which i plan on learning how to play! I get a cell phone later today...I can't wait...cause right now my email isn't working, not sure why, but I will figure it out! All my love from India
