Goodbyes and Hellos

SOUTH AFRICA | Thursday, 8 May 2008 | Views [433] | Comments [5]

After spending 2 weeks in Plumstead, seeing the sigts, drinking the wine, making ourselves known – we moved up to Rob and Waynes farm for the weekend, North of Cape Town.

The location was increadable and we sat out watching ther stars for hours because it was just Black!

We knew that crazy things were going to happen on our trip – and it has been great getting to know what people are about etc. but it came as a shock when on the farm we were told that the guy who took us up and down Table mountain, and we spent a lot of time with in Plumstead, had hung himself! We aren’t too sure what to make of the whole thing – it is sad, but it goes to show we didn’t know him that well, because we were under the impression he was very happy.

From the farm we started our journey on our own – we booked into a hostel, which we have been too lazy to leave, so we are still staying there, and began meeting people. We met a couple of guys from Joburg who took us out the first night and we had a great night. We spent the next day with them until they left for the airport. We then met another English guy, who we have spent a lot of time with. That night I turned 19 – so was a bit of a celebration. 4 shots of gin for 10R, that’s 60p!!! We also met a group of American girls with strange names and great bodies – so no complaints to be had. Being 19 so far has been amazing. We have a couple more nights there and then leave for Australia.

I will try and get photos up on here, but it is so slow that it is proving to be difficult.

Love

Thanx for the latest update Alex. What a sad incident. At least your memories of your friend will all be happy ones. The walk up Table Mountain must have been an incredible experience. And I gather you are quite enjoying the food and drink too. I'm quite jealous actually as you have been to two of my favourite restaurants this week -Famous Butcher and Moyo. Yum. Have a fantastic time in Oz! Lots of love to you both. Take care xxxxxxx

Dreadfull news about Craig! It was quite a shock when we heard from Andrew about that.

So glad that you're both having a good time - photos, photos, photos we want photos! Seen some on face book, so jealous.

That Gin must have been home brew at that price - have your eyes gone yellow?

We've had 23-27 degrees C over the last week, fantastic.

Now, what are those secrets???

Take care and say hi to Andrew.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like you had a great time in SA although distracted by alcohol and girls!
And now the second leg begins. Hopefully you are in Oz reading this otherwise something has gone terribly wrong.
We are basking in glorious weather at the moment but this is probably our Summer.
I'm off to Belfast on Wednesday for a conference, not quite as exotic as Oz.
Keep in Touch
Love you
Mum XX
