Rain and rainbows

(rainbow over the East China Sea)

If you've been following our weather for any reason lately, you'll know that for the past month, it's rained almost every day.  And I thought we got plenty of rain during rainy season this year!  This has been a much wetter summer than we experienced last year.  Between Typhoon Kompasu, several tropical storms, and just plain rainy days, we've experienced an over-abundance of days that looked like this:

And that actually doesn't look too bad!  The darkest, rainiest days I tried to avoid looking out the window as much as possible.  (Did we mention that it stays quite hot and very humid even when it's raining?)  After about the second week of rain, it can get a bit depressing.  But then, being the amazing suptropical island that Okinawa is, we got rewarded with some awesome rainbows!

(Rainbow towards Kadena)  What I loved most about this particular rainbow, was the fact that the colors were so vibrant you could see them all the way into the trees!

Brandon and I are fairly used to unpredictable weather having grown up in NE and PA.  But it's still really neat to be able to look out one side of the apartment and see almost pure black clouds and rain, and run to the other side of the apartment and enjoy gorgeous clear blue sky!

We've been enjoying nice weather (albeit hot, humid, and occasional downpours - but that so beats last month!) last weekend and this week.  I'll be posting our trip to the Aquarium soon - the first thing we did when the weather turned nice again: outdoor dolphin show and shikuwasa ice cream!

Just checked the forecast for the rest of this week and weekend...here comes Tropical Storm 12! But, I suppose, we did get almost a full week of mostly sunshine with only a handful of downpours. Guess it's time for more rain again, eh? hehehe
