Happily Ever After

Those selfish, selfish people!

JAPAN | Saturday, 14 November 2009 | Views [1708] | Comments [2]

While Brandon and I were out Christmas shopping, we came across this wonderfully, hilarious sign.  I've always said the Japanese culture is an extremely polite one.  They even go so far as to label themselves "selfish" when they close their store for a few days.  Gotta love Okinawa!

OK translate this sign please. What is "I wait for coming to the store."? Not sure I understand the rest either, really. Missed you at the "wood bee party" today!

Approximate translation:
The store will be closed from 11/13 -11/16. Sorry for any inconvenience. They will reopen on 11/17. They are looking forward to your next visit.

Gotta love Japanese-English! It's unlike any other English variation I've ever experienced. Their extreme politeness and flowery native language makes it very difficult to translate Japanese to English. It sure does make us laugh, though!

Aunt A - sorry we missed the wood bee! Would have been there if we could. Strange as it sounds, I do look forward to working with the family on them each year. :)

Love you much,

Arielle
