The King's Birthday

Today I hung out with the two Thai girls I had met through Gina at the guesthouse in Ayutthaya a couple weeks ago. It was a pretty fun day. It was a national holiday for the King's birthday as well. We went to a park in Bangkok and just chilled while they practiced their English with me. The one girl Ning was an engineer but wanted to do more school in Denmark so she needed to learn English before she left. It was pretty fun trying to have a conversation with her. She was pretty good though. We had an awesome seafood curry dinner by the river and then walked back to where I was the night before. It was a pretty huge celebration. So many people everywhere. At one point everyone had lit candles across the whole park while they were singing together for the king. After that we got treated to a really good fireworks show. It was a really good time. After that I headed to the airport to meet my friend Matt who was landing at 11:30pm. It was pretty cool seeing a good friend from home arriving in Asia to travel with me for 4-5 months. Cabbed it back to the guesthouse, went out for a couple beers, smoked a strawberry sheisha and then called it a night.
