We're living on a houseboat for 24hours. It's bigger than our flat!! It's huge!! Not only that but we've got a captain, a chef, and a waiter. This is completely different to what we've been use to the past few weeks, and also ten times our daily budget!!
Our journey on our new home began this morning where we floated through the backwater canals. Ah... it reminded us of the great East End, just a little hotter, greener and more relaxing. We then moved onto the fresh water lake which is the second largest in the world (captains claim not sure about this!). We stopped for a super delicious lunch which was enough to feed a small army and then continued again. Everytime the boat is stationary we are allowed to fish using a long stick with some fishing nylon attached.
Despite orestis persistence over the 24hour period, not one tiny measly fish was caught. They must have enjoyed teasing him as they were able to eat the bait everytime without biting on the hook.... To Orestis increasing frustration!
On route we picked up half a kilo of tiger prawns from a fishing village on the lake which were cooked to perfection. They really were the juiciest prawns we have ever had. Aside from the day being amazing, our night was no so good. Oresti had a mission throughout the night to keep us guarded from the beastly cockroaches. We awoke early to see an amazing sunrise and for oresti having one more go at catching a fish, failing yet again.
We departed our lovely houseboat and jumped on a train heading further south with budget accommodation being reinstated - to Varkala
