My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
United Kingdom | Friday, July 5, 2013 | 5 photos
I apply the drive and commitment that I have learnt from challenging myself outdoors in team and adventure sport, into developing my photography.
A fascination for traveling and studying a wide variety of subjects at school led to my passion for photojournalism; it is a unique window for experiencing and documenting our planet.
My dream is to improve, so I can successfully create photo documentaries about the issues I feel passionate about and stories that need to be told. What is most daunting about a professional career is how to get photo’s seen and issues heard.
When practicing photojournalism, I try to remember that narrative is key. Most importantly is conveying a story accurately, with empathy and to as wide an audience as possible.
I am studying ‘Press & Editorial Photography’ at Falmouth University. The course is an amazing opportunity for uninterrupted focus on photography. My continuous enthusiasm for developing ideas and methods is something that I would apply in Greenland; I want to learn as wide a skillset as possible. From the experience of being with a professional on location, I wish to increase confidence in my skills in the field.
