My son Kai and me on a (very) wet Sydney winter's day.

Hi,

my name is Simon and this is my travel journal, or at least the one that has taken over from all the old paper books I used to carry and scribble in a couple of decades ago.

I have travelled to many parts of the world over the years, met some wonderful people, I have been fortunate enough to establish both WorldNomads.com and the footprints network.

Travel has substantially changed my life and I still manage to travel extensively each year and stay in touch with people, places and points of view. I like to think that I can share some of this rich travel experience from more than 20 years on the road.

Now I travel with my young family, which brings it's own unique challenges, benefits and surprises. I love travel photography and have my own Flickr account or you can see all World Nomads travel photographs in our World Nomads Group.

At World Nomads we also get to see the other side of independent travel ... the side you don't think about when you are young think you are indestructible ... (I know I didn't either) but it can and does; from dog bites to dengue fever and fires to frenulums, we see it all.

However, we try to keep you safe, hope you have some wonderful adventures and bring back some inspirational memories.

Enjoy.

Simon
