ok, so the Socceroos lost in 'that' penalty against Italy; Adriatic summers aren't long enough (bliss!); and we found that you should never use the term "Eastern Bloc" when talking to a Czech (Central Europe, please).

Operating the 'sluice' between two lakes, one which is about a metre higher than the other. If you want to take your boat from one lake to the other, you enter the sluice on one side, close the gate behind you and then slowly let the other gate open so the water flows in and lifts or lowers you to the level of the lake that you're entering.

Wandering aimlessly through some small suburbs on the mainland across from Amsterdam, thinking we were completely lost (and we were!), we came upon this little place on the water called T'Sluice...

The gorgeous room at The Collector B&B. Karel, the owner, is a collector of anything you can think of. Curiously, we were in a room full of clocks and nice old furniture. Lucky for us the clocks weren't ticking!
