ok, so the Socceroos lost in 'that' penalty against Italy; Adriatic summers aren't long enough (bliss!); and we found that you should never use the term "Eastern Bloc" when talking to a Czech (Central Europe, please).

... with a very confusing Italian/Austrian culture. Even the street signs were confused! Walking into any shop it was impossible to know whether to say "Bongiorno!" or "Guten Tag!" Only in the pizzeria and gelateria did we have a bit more of a clue.
