I've decided that the Chinese actually made it rain Saturday night, all day Sunday, a little Monday, and this morning.

China definitely has the technology to change the weather. It's too complicated for me to understand, but it has something to do with causing little explosions in the atmosphere that induce natural precipitate. And they are planning on using it before the Olympics to clear the air.

So, I'm pretty sure the weathern on Saturday (hugely polluted, no sun, no extra air to breathe with) caused them to test it out early. And thus the desert rained for almost four days straight.

I'm not really sure how I feel about this. It is nice to see the sun again. But we humans have been messing with the weather for awhile now, and it doesn't seem to produce positive effects (umm...global warming). What's happening now is good for now, but what will be the effect in a couple years? Or twenty? Or a hundred?

I guess a good image is all that matters right now. Just like modernization was all that mattered during the Great Leap Forward. Or weeding out the dissenters was all that mattered during the Cultural Revolution. Or maintaining that T-bet will always be a part of China was all that mattered a couple of weeks ago...
