My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Growing up I wanted to be a stuntman or someone like David Attenborough.
However, I have spent most of my working life at an insurance company as I was always guided to choose the safe option. I explored other countries and possibilities though. I studied Acting for Stage, Swedish massage and Graphic Design. I worked at a summer camp, taught English in Japan, backpacked through SE Asia and Europe and worked at a ski resort.
For me, taking photos is a creative way to view the world from different perspectives, getting me closer to nature. It allows me to step back and capture emotions in an image, telling stories that others wouldn’t have had the opportunity to see. I am patient for the perfect shot and not afraid to get a better vantage point.
It motivates me knowing that people like Jason Edwards are willing to pass on their knowledge. I am willing to take risks, learn, be guided and critiqued with my photography. Understanding how to capture moments better without the need to manipulate the image later and recognise my camera’s potential as well as my own would be remarkable. I ultimately want people to understand the world better and why we should treat it with care.
