The presented video was shot during the walking arts festival Sideways 2012 where both Yana and Claudia participated. We walked across Belgium for a month - Yana doing Rope piece (where she was tied to different people for 24 hours) and 5 hour meditations and Claudia was documenting the festival and interviewing the artists. Claudia has 7 year of video experience. She worked on TV for 3 years doing editing, production, camera, and directing. Over the past two years she has being documenting performing arts festivals which is an unique experience in terms of learning shapes, forms and movement to capture with the camera. Yana is a performer and a dancer. Recently she has also been incorporating life-size puppets in her art practice. She has visited New Orleans on a few occasions: for Mardi Gras and Halloween and met a bunch of local kids who play music and make theater and live performances. Costume, puppet, masquerade culture is huge in NOLA that is filled with surreal characters and subjects. That's why according to the spirit of New Orleans we suggest to make unusual videos from Mardi Gras where puppets produced by local artists narrate and introduce their beautiful town.
