My Scholarship entry - Wheels of the Empire

Based in Aotearoa-New Zealand, I am currently working with Maori communities on different documentary projects. I have been inspired by indigenous cultures and the fantastic natural surroundings in this part of the world. I have always taken series of stills through out all the different trips I have done over the years. Telling stories through photography became a lifestyle.
I spend a lot of time deep into the forest to find what I feel is the right texture, the right lighting, the right place to compose something that has got somehow an aura.
I still carry that compulsive thrill of taking pictures in the streets. It is just a pure pleasure to observe and hunt for the opportunity to catch in a single frame the soul and vibrations of a place. I see it as a good story-telling exercise, I believe that it is an incredible canvas to express human interactions and the world’s matters.
Most of the stories I work on deal with indigenous people lifestyle in the western world. I invest in myself to reach another level and master a whole workflow. I need to produce efficiently.
To weave passion and work altogether as I believe that it is crucial to live our visions and dreams.
