The devotee must the make the long, slow and painful walk from the area of preparation, carrying his or her kavati through the masses of people and slowly up the 272 steep and crowded stairs to the temple complex of Batu Caves.

At the top of the 272 steps lie the Batu cave temples and a time of shared worship, thanksgiving and celebration; and the fervent wish that the kavati has been deemed worthy enough to have a request granted. A life changing experience for all, devotee and witness alike.
