At breakfast we talked with Monica and David in more detail about their time in Singapore and working abroad. Suggested they head to the optometrist that we used for Monica to get some glasses. David is an avid photographer and has some lovely shots of the local Vietnamese people. he is going to show me how he sets them up on computer etc. Lent him a USB cord to allow him to upload photos. Headed into town early to see Miss Forget Me Not but she was not there as yet. Went to shoe maker - Thanh and dropped off my cirrhotics and she measured me for my new work shoes. Went to Anne's Souvenir shop and bought some knives and lacquered bottle holders and when we left Kevin said that was cheap. He thought I only paid 83,000 dong $4 rather than the correct 830,000 or $40. We then went to optometrist to pick up Kevin's sunglasses but they were all wrong. They had a different frame from the one we selected and the lenses were not the correct strength and the colour of the lens was brown not black. Actually they didn't get anything right. Said they would do them again and to come back int eh afternoon to pick up. Went back to Miss Forget Me Not and she was still busy so Kevin said he had had enough and was going for a ride. I stayed and got her to make 2 dresses and a pair of shorts (like my black pepper ones). total cost $65 which I thought was a little too much but what the heck. We had been invited by Miss Le to a rememberance luncheon for her father-in-law who passed away 3 years ago. When I got back to the hotel there were 100 people, family, friends and colleagues attending the function. We were seated at 12 noon for a lunch with the other guests. Interesting talking with Monica and David and son Will and also Harry a chef from the Hunter Valley who is here for a wedding on Friday on the beach in a 3 piece suit. They will roast. Kevin headed off for another bike ride around town and he says he nearly got cleaned up twice by other bike riders. I had a lazy afternoon with a swim later on. Kevin headed back into town to get his shoes and glasses and came home happy as they had all been fixed. Went to White Lotus Restaurant for tea which is an Indochine Project that also helps under privileged children in the local community and we had soup and spring rolls.
