Yemen Before the Storm These photos were taken in 1999 before the bombing of the USS Cole Battleship in the port of Aden in Yemen, as well as before the tragedy at the World Trade Center in New York. Yemen at this time was a beautiful and welcoming place.

A villager enters a tiny shaft of sun that cuts through the tiny streets of the old Medina. This image could be seen as an homage to the surrealist painter De Chirico and his solitary figures set in strange and perhaps foreboding urban landscapes.
