    Yemen Before the Storm These photos were taken in 1999 before the bombing of the USS Cole Battleship in the port of Aden in Yemen, as well as before the tragedy at the World Trade Center in New York. Yemen at this time was a beautiful and welcoming place.

    Sun sets on the last house of the village, high in the Hajaz mountains. Other tiny villages sit precariously on faraway ridges. These remote outposts offer protection from the rapid changes in the Arab world.
