Jaco Crocodiles

COSTA RICA | Monday, 26 September 2016 | Views [514]

Took a shared shuttle from San Jose to Quepos where I am staying for about 5 days.  Just before reaching Jaco beach area we crossed a bridge over Rio Tarcoles and the driver offered to stop so we could look over the bridge.  I figured if he offered, there must be something to see there.  Of course there was, great big crocodiles.  Crocodiles are common here but only in the river mouths where they open to the sea and in some low lying wet areas.  They are not upstream where the water is running and they don't go in the ocean.  They are protected so they are not on the menu.  I took some pictures and here is a pretty good Youtube video showing them.
