Gold ornaments play an important role in Hindu marriage- A wedding is incomplete without gifting of gold ornaments to each other. According to tradition gold ornaments can be worn only on the upper part of the body and silver ornaments are to be worn in the lower part(below navel).
Gold is the symbol of fire and it represents long life with great energy and strength. It is believed that the person who wears it is protected from the negative energies. As per the holy text gold destroys harmful germs in a person’s body and positive energy is absorbed in greater extent.
Most important is Mangalsutra- which is made of gold and with a combination of black beads.
