Summit4life 2016 Nobody climbs mountains for scientific reasons. Science is used to raise money for the expeditions, but you really climb for the hell of it.......;Sir Edmund Hillary

About vincek

Hi guys,So im finally embarking on my trip of a life time to the Mt Everest Region to  climb Island Peak.Summit4life 2016 is my trip (Vinny Kavanagh)travelling from Brisbane Australia through the Himalayan Mountain range of the Sagarmatha National Park, It will take 22 days to reach the summit standing at 20,305 feet (6189M) it will be the highest point I have stood at in my 33 years. This trip will take me through many famous villages along the way such as Lukla, Namche Bazaar and Dingboche but to name a few, where I will stay with local families, Teahouse’s and at my higher altitudes in tents with our team of 4 and Sherpas. One of the highlights of the trip will be reaching Base Camp Everest and standing in the foothills of so many famous Expeditions and will certainly be a reminder of how Beautiful but also how Extremely damaging and harsh this famous Mountain range can be. On the Morning of the summit we will have a 2am wake up, where weather depending we will climb a substantial crevasse along most of the headwall leading to the summit ridge to reach the top for sunrise where we will be sitting on an island in a sea of ice (hence the name "Island Peak") with a 360° view of Mt Everest Lhotse and Nuptse. It was first climbed in 1953 as part of a training exercise by a British expedition that went on to summit Mt Everest. Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, who was one of the first two humans credited with climbing Mount Everest, was also one of the first to summit Island Peak so it will be by no means a stroll in the park.

Namaste
