Autumn has descended; Lund is still relatively green but it feels like it's 4 o'clock in the afternoon the whole day. It makes everything feel a bit surreal, which is how I feel about this trip. There's been so much to do in terms of preparations lately that I haven't really focused on what's coming up. Even so, now that I'm all moved out of my apartment (with a lot of help from Galo), stowed away all my stuff (in Galo's storage room) and am homeless (though staying with Galo) I still don't feel like I'm actually going to leave Lund for almost a year. I'm wondering when it's going to hit me, if it's going to do so at all.
On a side note, I'd like to thank Galito for all the help he's given me. It's been invaluable, I'm not sure how I would've solved everything without you.
On the matter of the actual trip... I don't really have many details to divulge about plans, route, etc. However, what I do know:
- Nadja's coming! She will be joining us in Santiago de Chile on the 16th of October, and best of all, her and I will get to celebrate Christmas, my birthday and New Year's together.
- Monica's also coming! We've been studying human rights together and she will be our token Latina on the trip. She's spending a night in an aiport hotel in Miami on her way to Ecuador and hopefully won't die of boredom so that she can meet the rest of us in Quito on Thursday.
- Alex, Charles and I will be taking the same flight from San José in Costa Rica to Quito! Exxxccceellent.
- And finally, I will begin my internship at Choike in Montevideo at the end of January.
So there you have it folks, the extremley well-thought out South America trip. Tonight will be sad farewell-time and tomorrow will be - hopefully - exciting flying away-time! I think I'm going to end now, because I'm clearly becoming completely inarticulate.
