During the rainy season, people in the karts area (the south part of Gunungkidul) develop the “rainwater harvesting” by using their individual reservoir tub outside their houses. Every roof gutter is arranged to flow the rainwater to fill in their reservoir tubs. When the dry season lasts long, they get to buy clean water from the supplier. This costs them around IDR 150,000 (AUD 15) per 5,000 litre. It is equal to an average monthly income for them.
