Day1 of school was both fun and exhausting mentally by the first break at 10:30. The school has afternoon activities this week to El Cerro de Baúl a hillside overlooking Xela. There one finds this killer slide in the playground. What I failed to mention the first time is the nearby sign that says, "Do not use this slide when wet." The street story from one of our instructors was that a young local man went down it in the rain and flipped over the backstop at the bottom and down the hill to his death.

Yes, I did go down the slide--once. It was fast. I almost took a tumble at the bottom and thought, "Great, sprain or break an ankle and there goes the climbing." It was fun, though.

Tom, I have to say it never occurred to me that you WOULDN'T try out this slide. Wheeee! I can't help but believe that if you hadn't given this slide a go you'd always regret it.

Wow!! I am so excited to find this blog on "my Slide" When I was 14 yrs old I went to Guatemala on a mission trip from America. I had a pretty serious accident on this slide. I actually flew into the lovely wall at the bottom broke my nose, tore my legs up, knocked two teeth out, and I ended up with multiple stitches in three areas of my face!! After reading this blog and legendary story, I feel very blessed!! Thanks for the picture, It is so weird seeing it again!!
