Soaking in Hay Street

My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

This man intrigues me, and it still bothers me that I did not have the audacity to step into his space to ask him the questions that only he could answer. I mean, what would make a person sit at the side of such a busy sidewalk for an entire day (he was already there when I arrived in the city in the late morning and was still in that same spot when I made my way back to the train station in the late evening) not doing anything at all? Not reading nor begging for change, not even taking a glance at the passers-by; just sitting there furiously wrapped up in his own thoughts. What was going on inside that head of his? What has he seen of this world that has pushed him into that desolate corner? What was he hoping to find on this busy street?
