The Great Asian Adventure... A three month jaunt to Southeast Asia--mostly in Cambodia, with side trips to China and Vietnam

The Cu Chi Tunnels

VIETNAM | Sunday, 6 January 2008 | Views [283]

I spent today in Saigon, poking around Cholon (Chinatown) and searching for a peaceful pagoda where I could spend a couple hours--unforunately "peaceful" and "Saigon" are polar opposites. While I nursed my sore body, the boys hopped a bus and headed out to see the famed Cu Chi Tunnels, where the Viet Cong lived underground for years during the war. These tunnels had barracks, hospitals, and supply depots--an amazing structure that went undetected for years. Connor's history teacher had specifcally asked for pictures of this for their upcoming discussions on Vietnam--talk about your ultimate field trip.

Tonight we start preparing to leave. A list of final things to buy for friends, plane tickets, packing--no fair, I'm not ready!
