Stewards of the Bothy. We met these four incredible men as we arrived at Sourlies Bothy. They work for free travelling all over Scotland repairing and maintaining Bothies, so that anyone can find a sheltered place to spend the night. A father, his two brothers and his son. We shared stories long into the night around a roaring fire.

One stage of a three tiered waterfall we stumbled upon. The beauty of Knoydart is that you find amazing features all by yourself. Water cascaded over old bare rocks, so many different tones of silver and black. Before pitching up tent we just sat and watched as water gushed over the rocks and into the pool below, as it has done for years, whether there's anyone there to marvel at it or not.

The typical Knoydart view. All the shades of green and brown cover the torn hillsides. The sun dappling the landscape in warmth, giving slight respite from the icy wind.
It is a truly rugged landscape, untainted.
With access only by foot or boat, we walked for days without seeing a single person. And this was our reward.
