My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Guatemala | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos
My name is Timothy Brooks; I am a passionate environmental photojournalist, and I am inspired to use images to change the world.
When I was eleven, I started to seriously pursue photography. I immersed myself in foreign cultures and traveled to exotic locations--anything to get the best shot. I have attended many scholarship programs and learned from renowned photographers such as Ira Block and Neil Ever Osborne; I was recognized as a leading youth photographer by numerous organizations, including National Geographic Society and National Wildlife Federation.
I feel that every moment is an opportunity to make a difference, and that through photography I am empowered to positively impact the world. I take travel photographs to tell stories about foreign locations; I photograph wildlife to express the immediacy of protecting the environment.
The World Nomads Travel Scholarship will enhance my photography knowledge and give me the experience of an on-assignment photography trip. Whether I photograph the Jebel Akhdar Mountains or assisting Jason Edwards in setting up a shoot, I will use everything that I learn on this scholarship program to become a world-changing photographer.
