My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

When I left home with a one-way ticket in Sept 2011, I intended to seize the day, see the world and lead by example. To share my experience, I'm learning to articulate the indescribable: happiness, love, despair, hope & beyond. Where my words fall short photographs become my voice. For 19 months I've pipe-dreamed my way through Indo, Australia & New Zealand on a quest to learn a universal language.
My technical photo training is basic and academic, a single facet of my JM degree. I learned to use a DSLR and was then introduced to Henri Cartier-Bresson and the rule of thirds. Now I’m my own teacher. As adventures abroad present opportunity I put my ever-evolving skills to the test. My creative escapades usually stem from hours spent combing library shelves: Pulitzer, Annie Leibovitz, NatGeo. Not every experimental exposure yields success, but I'm perpetually learning & improving. To up the ante on my work & get more feedback, I even submit photos for publication while on the road. In the end though my effort is not pursuing career goals, rather pursuing my dreams in the hope that someday they'll intertwine. The influence I lack is guidance from someone who's already bridged the gap.
