More than 17,000 islands form the Indonesian nation, but only one has been dubbed ‘The Island of the Gods’. Known for its rich culture, alluring landscape, world class waves and beauty of all sorts, Bali is slowly losing its natural charm. Despite the lively efforts of the locals to keep tourists ‘happy happy’, I found that oftentimes there was just too much plastic and not enough paradise. This view from my lounge chair on Kuta Beach was typical on many of the island's popular shorelines.
